A partner portal that had outgrown its structure

PartnerZone served multiple partner types external partners, internal partners, and service partners each with different needs, workflows, and levels of access. The platform had grown organically, and the experience reflected that complexity.

Onboarding was missing crucial steps

Partners struggled to find information across pages, making key workflows like customer management, demos, and pricing difficult to navigate.

Partners struggled to find information across pages, making key workflows like customer management, demos, and pricing difficult to navigate.

Research that shaped the direction

I spoke with external, internal, and service partners to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities across five key themes.

Organizing around what partners

Current is an innovative online bank dedicated to empowering a wave of Americans overlooked by traditional banking systems. I joined the team during the rebranding phase, which included a logo redesign by COLLINS, and I helped create a flexible design system and a modular website to enhance user navigation through faster and more affordable online banking services.

Partners struggled to find information across pages, making key workflows like customer management, demos, and pricing difficult to navigate.

Outcomes

I conducted interviews across partner types - external partners, internal partners, and service partners - organized around five themes: partner satisfaction, sales insights, upgrades and new features, translation, and unconverted sales.

+22%

Reduction in manual licensing assistance requests.

-42%

Positive satisfaction recorded across tested external partners.

+230%

Increase in the average speed of open offers approval.

What I learned

I conducted interviews across partner types - external partners, internal partners, and service partners - organized around five themes: partner satisfaction, sales insights, upgrades and new features, translation, and unconverted sales.

Complex B2B products fail when they mirror internal org structure instead of user mental models. The biggest impact came from reorganizing around how partners actually worked - not from adding new features.

Research with multiple user types reveals competing priorities. The challenge isn't choosing one group over another - it's finding the structural solution that serves all of them without creating separate experiences.

In B2B, scalability isn't just a technical concern - it's a design concern. The partner ecosystem was growing, and every design decision needed to work for 50 partners and 500 without cluttering workspaces.

Ready for your next product challenge

I help teams solve complex product problems by turning user needs and business goals into clear, scalable digital experiences.
